The Cloverdale tunnels in at the base of Eagle Peak. The Tunnel is approximately 2800 feet long with a few drifts going off the sides. Gold was the primary metal mined here the secondary was silver and lead.
the entrance does have some timbers that held a door at one time. there is also concrete that held the timbers in place. The door is no longer in place and won't keep anyone out.
Looking in from the entrance about 10 -15 feet from the entrance you can see ice buildup going down the tunnel.
When visiting this site please do not go into the tunnel. It is possible that any vibration could cause the tunnel to collapse or a landslide that could block the entrance to the tunnel.
To visit this site you will need to take Forest Service Road 198. High Clearance and four-wheel drive is reccommended.
