Petty is an unincorporated rural community of about a hundred people in western Lamar County, TX. The congregation was active at least into the first decade of the 21st century, judging by a couple of obituaries that noted funeral services here, but there's not much in the way of a complete church history to be found. Note the "1924" in the window above the entry, which jibes with the year of construction given by the Honey Grove Preservation League in an older church history that they've preserved (see below). Their page devoted to the church has some scans of church flyers, and notes that the church incorporated in 1888, meeting in a schoolhouse until they constructed their own building that same year. They had a fairly active congregation, with at least three hundred members, but after the history notes the construction of this sanctuary in 1924, the record falls silent.
