Kuplen i Kong Frederik 5.s kapel i Roskilde Domkirke er bygget i 1774 - 1825. To berømte arkitekter stod for opførelsen, nemlig C.F. Harsdorff og C.F. Hansen. Harsdorff indførte den rene nyklassicisme i Danmark, , og dette kapel er vel i sin blændende hvidhed og strenghed hans mest fuldendte værk.
Roskilde Domkirke er opført i det 12. og 13. århundrede i gotisk stil i teglsten, men rummer i dag arkitektoniske stilarter fra 800 år.
Domkirken har været kongefamiliens gravkirke gennem århundreder og rummer 38-40 kongelige grave (indenfor såvel som udenfor kirken):
The dome in King Frederik V's chapel in Roskilde Cathedral was built in 1774 - 1825. Two famous architects were responsible for the construction, namely C.F. Harsdorff and C.F. Hansen. Harsdorff introduced pure neoclassicism in Denmark, and this chapel is probably in its dazzling whiteness and austerity his most complete work.
Roskilde Cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th centuries in Gothic style in brick, but today contains architectural styles from 800 years.
The cathedral has been the royal family's tomb for centuries and contains 38-40 royal tombs (inside as well as outside the church):
