The original part of Cairns Post Building with its Classical colonnade in the inter-war Academic Classical style was constructed in 1908, later in 1924 it was extended to the present two storey concrete building. The main facade is a temple front with a colonnade of nine Ionic columns set on pedestals supporting an entablature with the name THE CAIRNS POST PTY LTD on it
