Memorial was originally outside the churchyard, opposite to the labor house, but now the church yard has expanded to include it. The Finnish Socialist Workers' Republic deployed troops from Helsinki and other places to fight this major battle March 24th, 1918 and that is part of the reason why the bodies were never identified. There has been a rumor of a second grave in Messukylä, but it has never been confirmed.
The battle was fierce since the Reds were still unaware that the German Baltic troops were going to land on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, although such rumors were circulated by White propaganda leaflets.
