'WHY SHOP IN THE MANXSPCA CHARITY SHOP

Individuality
When you buy from our shop in Bucks Road it’s rare that you’ll see someone else wearing the same clothes as you or keeping their plates in the same cupboard. Now that everyone seems to buy everything from New Look or raid Primark on a visit to UK going out on a Friday is a fun chance to spot the identical outfits but do you really want to be one in a crowd?

Eco friendly
Buying from our charity shop is the ultimate in eco-friendly fashion or homeware as you’re actively rescuing items from languishing in the amenity site. Just the knowledge that by using what is already here means you’re not adding another item to the landfill can make you feel really good and noble – rescuing the planet in style!

Cost
It’s cheap. All right, the £1 designer finds are few and far between, but most items are much cheaper than the stuff you’ll find on the high street.

Local
You’re shopping locally, with people you know who are ready to chat to you and bring you up to speed on the news and gossip of the area, letting you know about any new shops which are opening, any roadworks coming up, generally community oriented, a feeling which we all enjoy but which is becoming a little thin on the ground.

Charity
It really should go without saying – you’re supporting the ManxSPCA, one of the Island’s oldest charities, with each purchase and, with funds at a low ebb, your purchase is a vital part of our fundraising. The odd pound here or there might not seem a lot but £1 a day from one hundred people will cover half of the cost of our veterinary bills for the year or enable us to feed and care for the dogs, cats and rabbits at Ard Jerkyll.
Creativity

Charity shop bargains can stir up those creative juices and it’s no surprise that many people who love nipping into a charity shop have an artistic or crafty vein running through their body. Buying an item to restore, restyle or reinvent from the ManxSPCA charity shop might seem as if you’re making extra work for yourself but think of the pride and pleasure you will experience when you make your silk purse out of the proverbial sow’s ear (we don’t sell those!)

Bragging rights
The first time someone asks you about your new top/plate/sofa/bag and you can reply ‘oh this? £2, in the ManxSPCA charity shop’ you will get a buzz. This is a really thrilling feeling and knowing than someone is envying and admiring something you picked up for hardly anything is a kind of smugness we can all agree it’s okay to indulge in.

Memories
Even if you don’t buy anything every time you go in to a charity shop you could come across something which triggers a great memory of your childhood or distant past. Our ManxSPCA charity shop can be like a museum of your own personal life and times. A Flower Fairy duvet cover, that tattered looking My Little Pony, those plates your grandma had or a dress just like the one your mother wore when you were a child -these small things are the day to day things you forget until you see
them in our charity shop.'
