NL: Alfons Olterdissen was een Nederlands schrijver, dichter en regisseur. Zijn verhalen, toneelstukken en operettes behoren tot het bekendste dat in het Maastrichts geschreven werd. Het slotkoor van zijn komische opera Trijn de Begijn is sinds 2002 officieel het Maastrichtse volkslied.
In 1962 werd in de middenberm van de Grote Looiersstraat een beeldengroep geplaatst naar ontwerp van Willem Hofhuizen. Het stelt Olterdissen voor als verteller met een groep luisterende kinderen, zittend op een hardstenen bank.
EN: Alfons Olterdissen was a Dutch writer, poet and director. His stories, plays and operettas are among the best known written in Maastrichts. The closing chorus of his comic opera Trijn de Begijn has been officially the Maastricht national anthem since 2002.
In 1962, a sculpture group was placed in the median strip of the Grote Looiersstraat after a design by Willem Hofhuizen. It depicts Olterdissen as a storyteller with a group of listening children, sitting on a hard stone bench.
