From the sign:
"Hilton Falls Conservation Area is one of more than 100 Niagara Escarpment parks that are linked by the Bruce Trail from Queenston to Tobermory.
In 1990, the Niagara Escarpment was declared a biosphere reserve by the Bureau of UNESCO Man and Biosphere program (UNESCO is a United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural organization).
A biosphere reserve is defined as a significant natural ecosystem that combines conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
This international designation confirms the importance of protecting the Niagara Escarpment and areas like Hilton Falls. Please help us protect Hilton Falls by staying on the marked trails and behind safety barriers."
