Erected in 2012 with the help of private donors, the bug-eyed monstrosity is the work of local artist Scott Pitcher. It's constructed of recycled metal parts such as traffic lights, pieces of WWII era planes, and more. Standing on the corner between Sycamore and Washington, the green-skinned abomination towers over the town which helped give it its name. Or maybe it's a chicken and the egg kind of situation.

The statue measures 17-feet tall, 22-feet long, and six-feet wide, and has a plaque featuring its name. The metal insectoid is sure to delight and horrify any who bask in its presence. Stop, take a picture, and enjoy the sights and smells of small-town America.
Type of insect: Praying Mantis
