The lectern in St Mary's church, Edith Western, is made up from old medieval pew ends. It incorporates a pair of rather crudely carved poppy-head bench ends. The interior of the church was repaired and reseated in 1848, and this 'upcycled' woodwork probably dates from then.

It is a shame more of them were not saved. However crudely carved they may be, I think they are rather lovely.
