Taken from the NRHP nomination form, "Equitable Building (6253 Hollywood Boulevard): 1929; Aleck Curlett

One of three "height limit" buildings at Hollywood and Vine, this 12-story,
reinforced concrete, office structure is a Neo-Gothic design stylized in part by
means of Art Deco abstraction in its detailing. The U-shaped plan has a two-story
section joining the north and south wings on Vine Street. The building has strong
vertical emphasis, created by continuous pilasters. Cast concrete ornament and
balconies punctuate the structure. Street level has been remodeled in the 1950s."
Style: Art Deco

Structure Type: Commercial/Retail

Architect: Aleck Curlett

Date Built: 1929
