"This chapel under the patronage of Saint John is also dedicated to the religious cult of Saint Cado, who came from England in the 6th century. According to legend, Saint Cado was a prince, brought up in a monastic school, who became a monk.
The chapel was built by order of the Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem in the 12th century, then remodeled in the 15th century.
Of the original chapel, only the 2 pillars of the Renaissance-style porch and a small window on which is affixed the stained-glass window offered by the Order of Malta remain. From 1160, the chapel is mentioned as a well of the Hospitallers, under the commandery of la Feuillée.
Almost the entire building today dates back to the years 1436/1504.
Falling into ruin in the fifties, it has been the subject of a remarkable restoration since 1983. The work will last eleven years and will restore its vocation as a place of life, especially during the forgiveness of cherries in July." (
