Taken from the Smithsonian website, "Three heroic figures situated on a multi-tiered concrete structure faced with granite blocks. A complex fountain system circulates water to pools at various levels of the monument. The granite figures depicting the three muses, Music, Dance, and Drama, are sculpted in Art Deco style. The central figure, the Muse of Music, is female. She kneels on one knee, which supports a lyre. The other two figures stand in corners of the fountain on either side of the central figure. The figure on the proper right, the Muse of Drama, holds the masks of theater. The figure on the proper left, the Muse of Dance, is posed in the position of a dancer."
