Not long ago, this was an all red hydrant. In 2019, Create Ardmore and the Ardmore Fire Department worked together on a beautification effort in which fire hydrants in the downtown Cultural Arts District -- a comparatively small number compared to the over 1600 hydrants that the Ardmore FD has to maintain throughout the area! -- would be given the glamour treatment. As the Ardmore FD requires that the hydrants have a specific color cap -- red, orange, green or blue -- to indicate how much water pressure each tank has behind it, they did the priming work, leaving local volunteers to use their imaginations and minimal guidelines in the effort.

Presumably, Buzzy is the faithful companion to the artist, as there's at least one other local pet brought to life on one of these painted hydrants. The hydrant bonnet is orange with red detail, as if Buzzy is wearing a hat or a helmet, with a green button on the operating nut. The hydrant is primarily black, with some green grass on the lower standpipe, and some kind of little white plant or flower right above the breaker ring. A red collar with "-Buzzy-" in white is just above that. Note the detail on Buzzy's head and face, with brown to provide shading, and red and green on the eyes, nose, and mouth.
