The statue commemorating he figure of the great polish national poet was erected from funds raised by public subscriptions of the Polish society on the hundredth anniversary of his birthday in 1898. The Monument was sculpted by Cyprian Gobdebske, who lived in France, even though he was Polish and was a highly esteemed artist.
Mickiewicz's statue was placed in the heart of Warsaw, in the square near Krakowskie Przedmiescie and near the Carmelite church.
The statue is 14.5 meters in height, the furgue ove 4meters. The poet is standing in frock coat and overcoat on his shoulders, his eyes are raised in inspiration and his right hand is on his breast.
