Gurmeet and Beantjit Chahal, owners of Nature's Basket immigrated to Canada from India and moved to the Okanagan Valley and opened the farm and market.
Nature's Basket has a great selection of fruits and berries: apples, peaches, cherries, strawberries, just to name a few.
Fresh vegetables, such as; onions, peppers, sweet potatoes, eggplant and an abundance of fresh produce grown behind the market.
I was there early and the market was closed. I did venture towards the back of the market and was surprised to find pickers in the field. The fields of vegetables is very large with orchards in the back. The fields were very well maintained and were lush and green. Overall, I was impressed.
The Okanagan Valley is well known for the abundance of fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables. As you travel Hwy. 97 from Osoyoos to West Kelowna the landscape is highlights with apple, pear, peach and cherry orchards. In the last decade, grapes for local wineries are replacing a majority of the orchards.
