The John Gorton House (#1) built in 1794 by the hatter John Gorton. The house is typical of the one-room deep, two-story houses built in the area. It is five bays wide and has a center chimney. Its center entrance is flanked by pilasters and simple entablature. The original wall covering of clapboards has been covered with siding.
