The sculpture rests on a concrete base that is maybe 3' x 4'. It's all steel, with two parallel pipes that exit the piece in the front and back, going off at an angle. The viewer can have their own interpretation, but for my money, it looks like a walrus, a cat stretching its front paws, or a figure holding onto a steering wheel.
A sign in front of the sculpture reads:
Patrick Woodruff
American, b. 1955
BFA Sculpture 1984
Untitled, 1979
Cut, welded steel

The University's description of the piece is just as cryptic:
Patrick Woodruff is a former UNT student (BFA ’84), who created this piece while studying in the undergraduate sculpture program. Purchased by Paul Voertman for UNT Art collection 1979. It was the first sculpture to win the first prize.
