Das Rathaus der Stadt Königswinter befindet sich am sogenannten Marktplatz in der Köngswinterer Altstadt. Nach der Stadtgründung 1889 erwarb die Stadt zunächst ein Wohnhaus, das heute als "Altes Rathaus" bekannt ist. Es wurde in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts als zweigeschossiger, villenähnlicher Putzbau gebaut. Die Architektur ist von risaltartigen Türmen und Ziergibeln im Neorenaissance Stil geprägt. Später wurden das Rathaus und die Stadtverwaltung um weitere Gebäude erweitert, die alle um den Marktplatz herum angesiedelt sind.

Den rechten Gebäudetrakt des Alten Rathauses ziert ein auffälliges ehemaliges Wappen der Stadt Königswinter: Auf Höhe der oberen Etage wurde ein farbig bemaltes Stuck angebracht, dass das Stadtwappen von 1889 bis 1969 zeigt. Es zeigt die ehemalige Stadtmauer von Königswinter, deren Türme mit zwei Flaggen bestückt sind (eine davon von Köln), sowie ein Schild. Um das Wappen herum sind Verzierungen aus Federn und einem Ritterhelm mit Krone und Halskette angebracht. Darunter befindet sich der Schriftzug "Rathaus".

Ab 1972 wurde das Wappen in veränderter Form genutzt: Die Flaggen auf den Türmen wurden weggelassen, und das Schild wurde ausgetauscht. Es ist nun zweigeteilt und zeigt die Wappen der Gemeinden Berg (Löwe) und Köln (Kreuz).
The town hall of Königswinter is located on the so-called market square in the old town of Köngswinter. After the city was founded in 1889, the city initially acquired a residential building which is known today as the "Old Town Hall". It was built in the second half of the 19th century as a two-storey, villa-like plastered building. The architecture is characterized by risaltike towers and decorative gables in the neo-renaissance style. Later the town hall and the city administration were expanded to include additional buildings, all of which are located around the market square.

The right wing of the Old Town Hall is adorned with a striking former coat of arms of the city of Königswinter: On the level of the upper floor, a colored stucco was attached that shows the city's coat of arms from 1889 to 1969. It shows the former city wall of Königswinter, whose towers are equipped with two flags (one of them from Cologne), as well as a shield. Decorations made of feathers and a knight's helmet with a crown and necklace are attached to the coat of arms. Underneath is the lettering "Rathaus".

From 1972 the coat of arms was used in a modified form: The flags on the towers were omitted and the shield was replaced. It is now divided into two parts and shows the coats of arms of the municipalities of Berg (lion) and Cologne (cross).
