County of park: Franklin County
Location of park: Wall St., up on bluff overlooking town and river, New Haven
Created:
Steps counted 62...but I was weazing a bit.

These stairs are a set of stairs from the park down to a looong ramp and then a second set of stairs to the tracks.
Or you could say a set of stairs from the town (tracks) up away from the river to the park.

"New Haven Parks & Recreation has a park system that includes the 40-acre New Haven City Park, 3.15 acre Bail Park as well as several smaller parks including the Colter Riverfront Park and Thurman Park. The city also has several ball fields, tennis courts and a municipal pool. The city also maintains open space, playgrounds and nearby river access." ~ Chamber of Commerce

"Tall bluffs afford fantastic views of the Missouri River and lands beyond to those brave enough to find a way to their summit. Residents of New Haven, Missouri, though, do not have to gather their courage as roads and a stairway lead to such a spot in Thurman Park. It is here that the journey starts.

"To find the geocache, you will need to jot down numbers that will, after some quick arithmetic and substitution, reveal the true location.

"Let's start with the bell close to the park's entrance. The plaque underneath provides some interesting information and also a lot of numbers. A is the sixth number on the plaque. Now, take note of the bell itself. It is held up by quite an impressive iron stand stamped with a number in multiple places. The first digit of this number is B. A spoked wheel is used to turn the bell and make it sound (if it had a clapper). The number of spokes on the wheel is C.

"You will see a set of stairs to the northeast that leads to the next stop on this caching tour. During the winter these steps are closed, so the coordinates for the bottom are provided as a waypoint and quick walk from downtown. There is a plaque proudly announcing the "Adopt A Step" program that made this possible. The first digit of the contribution amount is D. Hmmm . . . it would seem that the Evergreen Lodge, an organization, was one of the contributors. The first digit of their lodge number is E." ~ GC2RYPO
