The Witherell House, known as the Elm Tree House, 24 Brookfield Road, ca. 1760 (Bri# 25) is a fine, vernacular, Georgian style home. The 2½-story house with an end-gable roof is five bays long and three bays deep for a rectangular plan. Extending from its east façade is a one-story ell that dates post-1798. Unlike most Georgian houses that were “upgraded” in the Federal Period, the Witherell House retains a chimney centered on its steeply pitched roof.
