The Maspalomas Dunes are a natural space located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana , south of the island of Gran Canaria ( Canary Islands , Spain ). It is considered a special natural reserve.
It is a group of dunes with halophilic dune habitat characteristic of the Canary archipelago , unique on the island of Gran Canaria , since there is no other dune system with the same characteristics on the island. Most of the flora and some of the ornithic species that visit the humid zones (Oasis de Maspalomas, also known as Charca de Maspalomas) of this reserve, are protected by both national and regional laws. In addition, there are many species of sabulico insects, including some endemics, related to African fauna, which are only known in this environment, the Giant Lizard of Gran Canaria ( Gallotia stehlini ) that can be seen abundantly in the palm grove area next toMaspalomas oasis and a large number of birds.

Las Dunas de Maspalomas son un espacio natural situado en el municipio de San Bartolomé de Tirajana, al sur de la isla de Gran Canaria (Canarias, España). Tiene la consideración de reserva natural especial.
Se trata de un conjunto de dunas con hábitat dunar halófilo característico del archipiélago canario, único en la isla de Gran Canaria, ya que no existe otro sistema dunar de las mismas características en la isla. La mayor parte de la flora y algunas de las especies orníticas que visitan las zonas húmedas (Oasis de Maspalomas, también conocida como Charca de Maspalomas) de esta reserva, se encuentran protegidas por leyes tanto nacionales como regionales. Además, abundan las especies de insectos sabulícolas, entre ellos algunos endémicos, relacionadas con la fauna africana, que sólo se conocen en este entorno, el Lagarto Gigante de Gran Canaria (Gallotia stehlini) que puede ser divisado de manera abundante en la zona del palmeral próximo al Oasis de Maspalomas y un gran número de aves.
