Heysham nuclear power station is a twin nuclear power station on the north west coast of England near Lancaster. Heysham is unique in the UK as the site of two operating nuclear power stations, Heysham 1 and Heysham 2.
Heysham 1 has 2 Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors and started generation in 1983. It supplies 1155MW of power to the UK's National Grid. It is estimated to end generation in 2024.
Heysham 2 also has 2 Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors and it started generation in 1988. It supplies 1230MW of power to the UK's National Grid and is estimated to end generation in 2030.
Both Stations are currently (summer 2020) operated by EDF Energy.
