The Rio Grande Gorge West Rim Trail begins at a rest area on the west side of the Gorge, on the south side of US 64. The trail system offers seventeen miles of hiking along the gorge and in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, with spectacular views of the gorge (and the famous Truss Bridge) and the mountains. Ample parking is available just feet from the trailhead.
