The West Rim Trail takes you south from the rest area at US 64 along the Rio Grande Gorge, offering spectacular views of the Gorge and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. There is ample parking just a few feet from the trailhead. The map, however, is incorrect! The "You Are Here" symbol should be on the south side of the rest area (where the sign actually is and where the trail begins), not north of US 64 as shown on the sign.
