He is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Section 74, Lot 60, Grave 1.
Description:
From Find A Grave-Civil War Union Brigadier General. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1837 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant of artillery during the Florida Indian wars. He was then assigned to Cleveland, Ohio during the Canada border disturbances from 1839 to 1841. He resigned from the military in 1842 and returned to his home in Ohio to practice law in Cincinnati. He also served as an officer in the Ohio Volunteer Militia. He accepted a commission as a Union Brigadier General when the Civil War began, becoming the second officer to accept a commission at the rank of General in Ohio since the onset of the war. He was assigned to Department of the Sanitary Commission and as the commander of Fort Harrison near Cincinnati, Ohio. He commanded a division when Cincinnati was threatened by Confederates forces in 1863. Accepting election as a member of the Ohio State Senate, he resigned in 1864. He resumed his law practice after leaving politics. He died in Cincinnati, Ohio when he was 91 years old.
