[EN] "Fire mountain with a far-reaching view, quiet forest passages, dreamy valleys, winding paths and again and again magnificent views over the summits of the volcanic Eifel. The highlight is the circumnavigation of the extinct volcano Hochbermel.
Starting point is the idyllic Eifel village Fenstereifen. From here, the path quickly dips through flower-filled meadow landscapes into a cool forest and reaches the open plateau of the Heunen with a wide view of the Thürlzer Bachtal via the Schälskopf, a mini-volcano. The path follows a meadow path to the right, crosses a stream in a small wood and a little later offers views over the open fields again.
Past the Heunenhof, the descent into the quiet Thürelzer Bachtal follows. It gets even more dreamy and idyllic when you turn off at a bridge into the Kimpelbach valley. Soon the path leads right into a side valley, through unspoilt mixed forest up to the historic charcoal burner's hut. Along a brook the path continues along field and forest paths to the Hochbermel volcano. The quiet hilltop is circumnavigated just below the summit and offers unique views of the basalt quarry that has been reclaimed by nature. The path leads directly to the edge of the former basalt quarry, high up at Hochbermel. Here you can enjoy unique views from afar. The descent begins on stony ground.
After a short passage on a wide forest path, the path leads left to the edge of the slope with an impressive view of Bermel. Back to the main path, this path allows a further detour to the old quarry with exciting insights into volcanism and the history of the earth. Afterwards, the path leads steadily downhill on soft forest paths, back to Fensterseifen."
