He is buried in the United State Naval Academy Cemetery in Section 7, Lot 1586.

Description: From Find A Grave: US Navy Four Star Admiral. Holloway was a graduate of Saint James preparatory School in Maryland in 1939, and that same year he was appointed to the Naval Academy. He graduated in 1942 from the Academy in a class shortened to three years because of the war. After graduating he was commissioned an Ensign and assigned to the Pacific theater serving on destroyers. He was credited with shooting down three Zeros during the Battle of Leyte Gulf as the gunnery officer of the U.S.S. Bennion, and later took part in the Battle of Surigao Straits. After the war he became a Naval aviator, flying missions in the Korean war, commanding Fighter Squadron Fifty-two. In 1959 he became the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Air Warfare. He prepared and developed the Naval Air Training and Operating Procedure program, a program which is still in effect today. In 1958 he attended the National War College and in 1963 became the commanding officer of the carrier, U.S.S. Enterprise, the first Nuclear Attack Carrier. He served for four years as Program Coordinator of the Nuclear Attack Carrier Program and Director, Strike Warfate. He was Commander, Carrier Division Six, based on the carrier Saratoga during the 1970 Jordanian crisis. As a Vice Admiral he was Deputy Commander in Chief, Atlantic, and Atlantic Fleet and from 1970 to 1972 was the Commander, Seventh Fleet and directed carrier strikes in joint air operations which led to the Vietnam cease fire. He became the Chief of Naval Operation in 1974 and served in that capacity until 1978. While Chief of Naval Operations he was also responsible for the Attack Carrier F-18 Hornet. He was appointed by President Regan as Chairman, Defense Task Force investigating the Iran hostage rescue operation, and in 1980 became the President of the Association of Naval Aviation, and in 1987 the Chairman.
