Besides the cornerstone and "United Methodist [C]hurch" up high, there are no signs for either a congregation or a current tenant. There is nothing to suggest that this congregation is still active, although there are a few web-spidered directory listings that refer to it and Richard Smotts as the pastor. There's evidence that they were still worshiping at the time of their 110th anniversary, whenever that was, and may have dissolved, at least financially, around 2009. There is also an obituary for Richard Smotts (d. 2011) of nearby Waxahachie, and as it references his years as a minister, it's possible that his passing may have contributed to the church's inactivity.
The grounds could use a little maintenance, but they are not totally overgrown. Replacement windows suggest that the old sanctuary has been damaged by Mother Nature or vandals, yet it still has a purpose. Otherwise, this 1925 church building is in very good condition.
