This low lying trig pillar can be found on the edge of the Angus town of Brechin close to the A90 by-pass. Named Maisondieu after a nearby farm, it sits on the edge of a field close to a footpath which is part off the Brechin Footpath Network. The pillar remains in good condition and still survives in spite of the new developments nearby including the new high school.
STEEPNESS: None, as the pillar is situated on flat land.
TERRAIN: A very short walk across grass from the footpath.
ACCESSIBILITY: Easily reached as the pillar lies on the edge of a field within a few yards of the path.
NAVIGATION: Reached from North Latch Road which heads north-westwards from the town before becoming Pittendriech Road, then a right turn into The Banks, which is signposted as a walking route to the Cookston Road. At the end of the road the footpath begins and it is on the left at the end of the houses that the pillar is seen a few yards to the north.
DANGER: None.
