This beautiful wall painting by Case Maclaim can be found on a house wall in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf. It is an interpretation of the classic oil painting (The Butterfly Hunter) by the German painter Carl Spitzweg, which he created in 1840.
The mural has remained very close to the original. The butterfly hunter with his extensive equipment stands in a tropical landscape and observes two large blue butterflies, which are in the foreground of the wall painting. However, the butterfly hunter of this interpretation looks more like a modern tourist. He is armed with a backpack, camera, and a smartphone, which he holds on a telescopic holder in his right hand.
You can find it in Gelsenkirchen Ückendorf, Festweg/Zur alten Schule.
