The "Then" photo shows the front of St. Mary Church on East Ninth Street in Erie, PA in 1934. St. Mary's is one of the oldest churches in the City of Erie. The parish was founded by German immigrants in 1840 and the church was built in 1854. The photo shows a Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop which participated in a Father and Son Communion Breakfast in 1934. The photo was published in the book, Erie Reflections, Volume Two, by the Erie Times-News.

The "Now" photo shows the front of the same church as it stands today. In 2015, the Bishop of Erie announced that the church would close, 175 years after its founding. In 2017, the church building was purchased by the New Life and Spirit Revival Center, a non-denominational Christian ministry.
Year photo was taken: 1934
