The inscription reads -
Near this Place lies Capt.
Valentine JEKEN and his
Wife. He was twise
Mayor of this Towne, &
died in Aug. 1678.
Also Mr Thomas YOUNG of St
Dunstan’s near Canterbury
who died 17 December
1729 aged 57 Years.
Also John JEKEN Gent. Grandson
of the said VALENTINE JEKEN
likewise Mayor of this Towne
who died 27 March
1738. Aged 51 Years.
Also 2 Daughters of the
said JOHN JEKEN & ELIZABETH
his Wife, daughter of ye said
Thomas YOUNG, who both
died Infants.
