This building was originally built in 1947 as the Capitol Hill Kiwanis Center. It now houses the Christ Center. Near the front door is a granite block with an image of Jesus, with a quote from John 13:34 and the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10)
"A new commandment I give unto you. That ye love one another as I have loved you."
John 13:34
BEATITUDES
"Blessed are the poor in spirit:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn:
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do not hunger and thirst for righteousness:
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful:
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart:
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for the sake of righteousness sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad:
for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."
