The Boezembrug is a fixed bridge in Rotterdam, part of the Goudse Rijweg. The Boezembrug connects both banks of the Boezem. The bridge is a national monument and designed by S.J. Rutgers in 1903. The bridge then replaced the Hooge Boesem bridge.

The Boezembrug is a fixed bridge in Rotterdam, part of the Goudse Rijweg. The Boezembrug connects both banks of the Boezem. The bridge is a national monument and designed by S.J. Rutgers in 1903. The bridge then replaced the Hooge Boesem bridge.
Civil engineer Sebald Rutgers, who works at the Municipality of Rotterdam, came up with a bridge in an Art Nouveau style. The bridge has a deck width of eighteen meters. The passage divided into four parts is twenty-six meters. The reinforced concrete span is supported by ten natural stone bridge pillars, standing two by two. Four pillars are in the walkways. The pillars continue into the railings / railings. These railings are per se attached to those pillars, but also rest on the span in their ornaments. Where the span is massive, the railings seem fragile; they also have Jugendstil motifs. The railings continue at an angle on the walkways.
The bridge has been a national monument since 1997 because of the concrete construction and graceful railings. In 1941 it seemed that the bridge still had to make way for a new one; the new city plan of that time included a new bridge, so it never came. [1] Rutgers is also the designer of the Boogbrug Heemraadsingel, designed in the same style, also a national monument.
