Cette sculpture fut conçue dans le cadre du symposium de sculpture de 1966. Elle est composée de cinq personnages à l’aspect schématisé. Boucher déconstruit la figure humaine jusqu’à sa plus simple impression, de sorte que l’oeuvre semble tendre vers l’abstraction. En effet, l’intérêt de sa proposition tient plus au jeu formel entre les différents volumes qu’aux perspectives narratives offertes par la figuration.

Maximilien Boucher est né en 1918 à Saint-Damien-de-Brandon. Après avoir été ordonné prêtre en 1943, il poursuit ses études en art à l'École des Beaux-Arts de Québec. Il enseignera les arts plastique et l'histoire de l'art pendant plus de vingt ans. Parallèlement à sa carrière d'enseignant, Boucher maintient une production artistique axée autour de la sculpture religieuse.

This sculpture was designed as part of the sculpture symposium in 1966. It is made up of five figures with a schematic appearance. Boucher deconstructs the human figure to its simplest impression, so that the work seems to tend towards abstraction. Indeed, the interest of his proposal lies more in the formal game between the different volumes than in the narrative perspectives offered by the figuration.

Maximilien Boucher was born in 1918 in Saint-Damien-de-Brandon. After being ordained a priest in 1943, he continued his art studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Quebec. He taught plastic arts and art history for over twenty years. In addition to his teaching career, Boucher maintained an artistic production centered around religious sculpture.
