"Abbeville station, formerly known as Abbeville station, was put into service on March 15, 1847 before becoming a station of the Northern Railway Company in 1851.
The final station was built in 1855, following an adversarial debate (between the Compagnie du Nord, the municipality and the chamber of commerce) concerning the choice of its location; these works are accompanied by an opening in the rampart and the construction of bridges (on the Transit canal and the ditch of the fortifications), allowing access to the site from the rest of the city.
The current passenger building was opened in 1862; of a regional seaside style (with a wooden frame adorned with red bricks evoking the villas of Mers-les-Bains, responding moreover by its lightness to the requirements of the military authority of the time), it is the subject of an inscription as a historic monument since December 28, 1984.
It is the last wooden station built in France, up to the Meuse TGV station in 2007. The building was modified and enlarged in 1912, notably with the advancement of its facade; one of the two pavilions, built symmetrically on its sides, was later demolished.

La gare définitive est édifiée à partir de 1855, à la suite d'un débat contradictoire (entre la Compagnie du Nord, la municipalité et la chambre de commerce) concernant le choix de son emplacement ; ces travaux sont accompagnés d'une ouverture dans le rempart et de la construction de ponts (sur le canal de Transit et le fossé des fortifications), permettant l'accès au site depuis le reste de la ville.
L'actuel bâtiment voyageurs est quant à lui ouvert en 1862 ; d'un style régional balnéaire (avec une ossature bois parée de briques rouges évoquant les villas de Mers-les-Bains, répondant en outre par sa légèreté aux exigences de l'autorité militaire d'alors), il fait l'objet d'une inscription au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 28 décembre 1984.
C'est la dernière gare en bois construite en France, jusqu'à la gare de Meuse TGV en 2007. Le bâtiment a été modifié et agrandi en 1912, avec notamment l'avancée de sa façade ; l'un des deux pavillons, édifiés symétriquement sur ses flancs, a par contre été démoli par la suite.
