C'est un bâtiment qui a été construit pour les protestants de Ligny le Grand et les villages alentour au XVIII ème siècle.
Dans la région il n'y avait pas beaucoup d'édifices pour les protestants célébrer leur culte.
Ils devaient se rendre à Haubourdin où se trouvait un temple.
Pourquoi l'avoir construit ici à Ligny le Grand ?
C'est simple puisque c'était ici que la communauté était la plus importante et puis c'est aussi le travail des frères Caillet Abel et Moïse de l'Aventure.
L'histoire du temple remonte à 1820.
Le bâtiment a été complètement rasé à la guerre de 1870, reconstruit en 1876 puis de nouveau démoli en 14.
Tous les quinze jours c'était l'office célébré par un pasteur qui venait de Lille.
