This sign is very simple, with white neon on individual white letters for "Terry Black's", and yellow neon on red letters for "BBQ". For those who are interested in more than just a photo and logging a visit ...

Those familiar with Lockhart, TX, "The Barbecue Capital of Texas", will be very familiar with this family's name. While the businesses are unrelated, Terry Black is one of the sons of Edgar Black, Jr., who ran Black's Barbecue for years in Lockhart, having taken it over from his father, Edgar, Sr. This is their place, run by the Terry Black family, and Mrs. Black is related to the folks who run Smitty's Market in Lockhart. These folks know their barbecue.

This is the second Terry Black's location, with the original being in Austin. The location is very spacious and still growing, with plenty of space for dining (and free wi-fi), as well as a two level outdoor biergarten that surrounds the pits. If you've never seen how they do this in Texas, ask them for a tour.

They've accommodated for those days when there are going to be long lines, and those lines won't crowd the seating area too much. Before you get to the main counter, there's another counter where you can ask for sides and things like pickles and bread. From there, they'll take care of you up front. Pick out as much as you like, bearing in mind that ribs are available by the bone and sausage by the link, but everything is weighed out by the pound. Take your pick of brisket (chopped or sliced), sausage (regular or jalapeño), turkey, beef ribs, or pork ribs. Sandwiches can be made from everything except the ribs, and you can even add a little protein to a salad with a quarter pound of barbecue. Add chips and a drink to make it a combo. They've got a nice selection of sides, including the beans, slaw, and potato salad that are old favorites, and if you plan to have room after your meal, they have cobbler, banana pudding, pecan pie, and ice cream. Besides iced tea and soft drinks, both from the fountain or the bottle/can, they have a small selection of beer and wine, as well as a small cocktail menu. Their website (see below) will always have the current menu and pricing.

There is a parking lot here, including a space just for the folks from the online delivery services, but as always, be certain you're dining here if you're parking here: Businesses have a right to ensure that they have parking for their employees and customers, and the YouTube channel run by GTOger is a great example of how scofflaws are treated in Deep Ellum when they park where they shouldn't.
