American realist Andrew Wyeth never wandered far from his home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania or his summer home in Cushing, Maine when looking for subject matter for his paintings. Most of his works portray the people, places and landscapes found within a few miles of these two locales. He really didn’t go far for this painting which shows his studio in Chadds Ford which, until the early 1960s, was also his home.
Today the studio is open for tours arranged by the Brandywine Conservancy and which operate out of the Brandywine River Museum. This museum also houses a substantial number of Andrew Wyeth paintings but this one, named “My Studio” is not among them.
