TRAIL OVERVIEW
The Kewash Nature Trail is a 13 mile long former railroad right
of way conversion that began as a grassroots project in 1989.
The Kewash Nature Trail Association spear-headed the project,
combining contributions of time and money from individuals,
families, school groups, and community organizations with an
Iowa Department of Transportation grant.
Trail use of this wildlife refuge is limited to hikers, bikers,
and cross-country skiers. Motor vehicles and horses are not
allowed. Users are asked to treat the trail with respect
and not to litter or trespass on adjoining properties.
Please do not disturb the plants or animals that live in this
wildlife refuge.
