The Wordsworth Daffodil Garden is located between the River Rothay and the churchyard of Saint Oswald's Church in the village of Grasmere. The entrance to the garden is situated adjacent to the Gingerbread Shop on Church Stile.
The Wordsworth Daffodil Garden was created in 2003 by volunteers, on a piece of waste land near the church. Since then the public has participated by way of the sponsorship of benches, inscribed paving stones, shrubs and daffodils. It is a lovely contemplative setting, with wooden seats under trees, springtime daffodils and encircled by fell views, that was chosen to try and emulate Wordsworth’s famous poem 'The Daffodils'.

The information board located on the path near the entrance to the garden gives the following information;
Wordsworth Daffodil Garden The story of the Garden began in 1998 when the Rector of Grasmere proposed the setting up of a fund to provide income to help pay for the ongoing maintenance of the Church.
The Rector got together with a few local people and from that group came up with the idea that there might be the opportunity to raise funds from the utilisation of a piece of land adjacent to St Oswald's churchyard. The plot was owned by the Church but over the years had been neglected and become overgrown - it did however, have one unique attribute - it was alongside the grave of William Wordsworth.
An idea was born that if it was turned into a wild daffodil garden, as a tribute to the great Poet Laureate, it would be an evocative place where the public might like to sponsor engraved stones and wild daffodils - a Lakeland garden which in addition to raising funds, would
provide a special amenity for locals and visitors alike. And so the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden was created: within ten years the path, made up of some 3,000 stones, had been completed and countless daffodil bulbs planted.
Although the path is now complete you can still show your love of the Lakes by sponsoring a wild daffodil to be planted in your name or that of a loved-one and thereby become a Friend of Grasmere. Your support and any memorial dedication you wish to make will be recorded in the Book of Friends which is displayed in the church and you will receive a pack of note cards featuring a beautiful watercolour of the garden.
