In the "Y" formed by TX-29 and County Road 322 (Old TX-29) is an overgrown area with two picnic tables. There is a tablet marking the land owners who donated the area to the State. This roadside park was created by the National Youth Administration in 1935.
Austin American Statesman
"Back in 1935, during the unhappy days of the depression, a handful of boys with picks and shovels rode out in a highway department truck to Williamson creek. In a few days an attractive roadside park began to take form. To passersby these NYA boys on their first job were another government alphabetical agency, which were being formed right and left. But the NYA has been one that survived, and now over a thousand boys and girls in the Austin area are getting valuable NYA training."
