Ger.:

eng.:
Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin had started his test flight from Friedrichshafen on January 17, 1906 with his second fixed airship (later named "Zeppelin" after him) LZ 2.
LZ 2 was about the same size as LZ 1, "(note: 128m length, 11.65m diameter, 11,300 m3 hydrogen as a carrier gas)" but was significantly improved and rose for the first and only time on January 17, 1906. The ship was driven offshore by a strong wind, later the engines and controls failed. The Zeppelin therefore had to make an emergency landing at Fischreute / Sommersried in Kißlegg, where the provisionally anchored ship was irreparably damaged by an upcoming storm at night. "
