These two War Department survey monument markers are located on the sidewalk, below a plaque providing information on the presence of the former War Department Building at this location.

Military Headquarters - 1862 - 1917

The former residence of Robert Noble (1792-1872)
a Halifax merchant, on this site was Head-
Quarters for Imperial Forces from 1906 to 1917 and continued
as military pay office from 1920 to 1927. These
War Department survey monuments marked the
property and the right of way to Hollis Street.

Type of survey mark: Two grey granite square markers approximately 15 X 15 inches

The marks are on the sidewalk, in front of a dark orange concrete wall on which this plaque is mounted. The bus stop is only a few feet from it.

It marked the property and the right of way to Hollis Street.
