A horse mounting block at Hensley Settlement in Cumberland Gap National Historic Park in Kentucky.

This horse mounting block is made from two cut stones, the bottom being limestone and the top half made from granite. Closer observation revels the exposed limestone is deteriorated from weather and is a large slab about ten inches or more thick. The half under the granite block is still square as it was hewn over 100 years ago.
