Englehardt (Lowell) Library is located in Lowell, Michigan at 200 North Monroe Street. The Library sits along the Flat River and is composed of reddish brick with a cement colored border running around the building at two different heights. There is some white vinyl siding incorporated in the building mainly at the eaves. All trim is white in color. The front entrance faces Southeast and has two glass doors. The roof has multiple peaks and is flat in some places.

Established as a public library in 1878, the Lowell branch library has the longest continuous history of any Kent District Library branch. It became a member of the Kent County Library System in 1956. In 1997 the library moved to its new building on the east bank of the Flat River, increasing its size by eight times to 8,800 square feet. It is named for a major benefactor, Harold Englehardt."
