Appproximately 110 well-maintained vernacular structures are situated along the tree-lined streets of the North Scituate Village Historic District. The majority of these one- to two-and-one-half story structures date from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries with some eighteenth-century and mid-twentieth-century buildings dispersed among them. Included in the district are commercial, residential, ecclesiastical, and municipal buildings as well as two nineteenth-century cemeteries: the Glenford Cemetery (Rhode Island Historical Cemetery, Scituate #31) and the Smithville Cemetery (Rhode Island Historical Cemetery, Scituate #24).
