Nieuwbouw Schmidt Zeevis geopend
Op dinsdag 8 december 2015 opende Koningin Maxima het nieuwe gebouw van vishandel Schmidt Zeevis op bedrijventerrein Spaanse Polder bij de A20 in Rotterdam. Maxima doopte het nieuwe gebouw dat half in het water ligt en de vorm heeft van een boot. Schmidt Zeevis vertrok uit haar vestiging aan het Vasteland omdat het in het centrum te weinig ruimte had voor haar groothandel. Op 1 december 2014 werd de eerste paal geslagen. Het ontwerp is van A&W Architekten uit Rotterdam.
Uitbreiding en parkeerproblemen
Schmidt Zeevis aan het Vasteland in Rotterdam is uit haar jasje gegroeid in het centrum en moet uitwijken naar de rand van Rotterdam. Reden van de verhuizing is dat het bedrijf op de nieuwe locatie kan uitbreiden. Daarnaast speelt parkeerproblematiek voor klanten en eigen vrachtwagens een rol van betekenis.
Vrieshuis
Op het bedrijventerrein Spaanse Polder bouwde Schmidt Zeevis voor zo’n 15 miljoen euro een nieuw pand aan de Matlingeweg 333. Het gebouw is gebouwd op een zichtlocatie langs de A20. Vanuit deze locatie bespaard het veel tijd voor de vrachtauto’s, die over het gehele land dagelijks verse vis afleveren aan restaurants , omdat ze vrij direct de snelwegen op kunnen rijden. De nieuwbouw heeft een eigen vrieshuis waarin 2.000 pallets kunnen staan. Hiernaast is de oppervlakte van de ca 3.000 m2 aan het Vasteland naar 8.000 BVO m2 in de nieuwbouw. Hiermee komt het bedrijf een stuk ruimer in het jasje te zitten. En dat is hard nodig om verder groeien.
Groothandel
Schmidt Zeevis begon ongeveer 100 jaar geleden in 1908 met ‘Oma’ Schmidt achter haar viskar, dat in 1916 uitgroeide tot een winkel. Tegenwoordig zet Schmidt Zeevis jaarlijks ruim 55 miljoen euro om, verspreidt 2,5 miljoen kilo verse en 2,4 miljoen kilo bevroren vis per jaar. De winkel is slechts een klein deel van de business. Het visbedrijf bevoorraadt 1200 restaurants en cruiseschepen en is stamgast op feesten en partijen voor de rijken der aarde.
Schmidt Zeevis in Markthal
Schmidt Zeevis gaat overigens niet verloren voor het centrum van Rotterdam. In de nieuwe Markthal is de visleverancier aanwezig met een stand.

New Schmidt Zeevis building opened
On Tuesday December 8, 2015, Queen Maxima opened the new building of the fishmonger Schmidt Zeevis in business park Spanish Polder near the A20 in Rotterdam. Maxima christened the new building that is half in the water and has the shape of a boat. Expansion and parking problems

Cold store
Schmidt Zeevis built a new building at Matlingeweg 333 on the Spanish Polder business park for around 15 million euros. The building was built on a visible location along the A20. From this location it saves a lot of time for the trucks, which deliver fresh fish to restaurants all over the country every day, because they can drive onto the highways quite directly. The new building has its own cold store that can hold 2,000 pallets. In addition, the surface area of ??the approximately 3,000 m2 on the Vasteland to 8,000 GFA m2 in the new building. This will give the company a much more spacious look. And that is desperately needed to grow further.
Wholesale
Schmidt Zeevis started about 100 years ago in 1908 with "Granny" Schmidt behind her fishing cart, which grew into a shop in 1916. Nowadays Schmidt Zeevis converts more than 55 million euros annually, distributes 2.5 million kilos of fresh and 2.4 million kilos of frozen fish per year. The store is only a small part of the business. The fishing company supplies 1,200 restaurants and cruise ships and is a regular guest at parties and parties for the wealthy of the earth.

Schmidt Zeevis is not lost for the center of Rotterdam. The fish supplier is present with a stand in the new Market Hall.
