Fairview Cemetery is Denison's second oldest cemetery, after Oakwood, with its earliest burial dating to 1882. The cemetery is still active, with nearly thirteen thousand burials, including T.V. Munson, "The Grape Man of Texas", and William C. Fitzhugh, a veteran of the Mexican-American and Civil Wars, as well as a memorial to the Grand Army of the Republic. While there is still open space, even in the older sections, this modern frame chapel was funded locally by contributions from area foundations, citizens, and businesses. It is just behind the office and the columbarium, adjacent to Section 9. It seats up to seventy-five people, and the two entrances, one a porte-cochère, are flush with the pavement, allowing easy access.
